Seriously, I don~t know where the time keeps going. I write yãll emails, and then I blink and here I am again, trying to think of something to write in my emails. The weeks are FLYING by. But I guess thats good because it means we~re working.
So this last week was pretty good. We found new families to teach, and they are solid families. I~m so happy because it means that the Lord trusts us enough to teach them! If all goes well, they~ll be getting baptised this next month. We have scheduled 2 baptisms this Saturday, L--- and L---. L---is an older man who has diabetes, can barely see, and can barely hear. But he~s great. We teach him, and we have to teach him slowly so that he can understand. He loves church. And he has a lot of faith. He~s very excited to get baptised.
And then there~s J----. Ju is 18, her younger sister got baptised a few months ago. She loves church as well, and so she~ll be getting baptized this week as well.
One of the families we started teaching this week was M--- and her 2 children, and one of the neighbor kids who practically lives with them. It was really funny when we were teaching them she said that her dad is white and her mom is black, and so I said that my mom has really dark skin as well, and my dad is American. And she stopped and was like... YOUR DAD IS AMERICAN? Have you ever been to the US? And I told her that I was from the US, and she just about had a panic attack. A lot of people here have never met Americans. And so when they meet us they FREAK OUT. She was like... give me a minute. She goes into another room to call one of her friends, and was like.... GUESS. WHAT. There~s an American in my house!!! It~s kind of funny how often that happens here... but at the same time, it gets old. I don~t tell anyone that I~m american until they ask me about my accent. Then I say I~m American. But a lot of times they~re like... you~re accent is different. Are you from Sao Paulo? And thus is life.
We also are teaching E--- and S---- and their son. They are pretty legit. E--- has the coolest life story. And by coolest, I mean, really sad but would make for a great book.
So yeah, that about sums up this week. Not a whole lot has happened, just a lot of working. We~ve been really busy just running from house to house, neighborhood to neighborhood, because we~re teaching a lot of people now. WOO!
I~m also stoked out of my mind because after I~m done emailing you guys, we~re going to a members house and she~s going to give us a manicure and she made CANDICA. Candica is like... the worlds most delicious food. It~s like rice pudding, just with corn and a lot of other unhealthy things! WOOOOOOO.
So that sums up my week.
Happy week for you guys as well. Hope mom gets feeling better!
