is norm.
HA. Just kidding. Everytime I think I get over culture shock. I~m suprised. Greatly surprised.
Por exemplo. Yesterday we were walking with some investigators to church. All of a sudden, I see this little car pull up next to us. Looked completely normal. 2 people in the front seat, in church clothes, 3 people in the back seat in church clothes. Normal right? They start driving away, and I see the trunk pop open slightly, and a hand popped out! I flipped!! Then the trunk opened, and there were probably 12 kids crammed in the trunk of this little car. It was freaking hilarious.
And when we went shopping for shoes, afterwards, we tried to find a place to buy bus passes, but couldn~t. so we had to ride in the front of the bus all the way to a transit center closest to our house. so we~re like...crammed in the front of this bus, and i was next to the door. the door would hit me every time it opened and just when i thought no one else could fit, this really fat lady gets on the bus, falls, pushes me off a step and my foot was caught in the bus door. AND THEN THE BUS STARTED DRIVING AWAY... my foot dangling outside the bus door. Oh my gosh, I just thought....this is one of those moments that I~ll laugh about someday. And I am laughing about it right now. It happens.
Its hot. But this week we~ve had a lot of clouds and a lot of rain, so its been bom demais! But everyone just sleeps when it gets too hot. What do missionaries do? We walk. And Walk. And Walk. And we buy laranjinhas. Laranjinhas are delicious popsicles. Oh, you~ll think this is funny. I asked my companion what her favorite flavor of icecream was. And she said, Milho. Milho in portugues means corn. ANd thats what I thought she said, but I was confused... corn flavored ice cream. So i thought maybe i didnt understand the word milho. But I do. Her favorite Icecream is corn flavor. It happens. Its funny. I love SIster Melo, and I dont think we ever had a language barrier. Like...ever. One time we were contacting and we talked to these drunk jovens, and they laughed, and they were like... sister marshall, and sister melo... together you are sister MARSHMELO! isn~t that freaking hilarious? i thought so.
Transfers are this week. Elder Morris is going home, sad day. He flies out today. And Elder McLane is getting transferred too. So there go my american missionaries. Mas, life goes on. The bummer part about the mission here is that when people get transferred. They get TRANSFERRED FAR AWAY. And its totally possible that I wont see people again by the time I peace the mish... Mas its all goood. I~m trying to convince my comp sister melo to go to byuh after the mission. i~m pretty convincing. Elder McLane is going back to BYUH after the mish, so it~s cool that I~ll still see some of the people I served with at school.
It rained a lot this week, and my scriptures and planner were hashed by the rain. but it happens when you serve in brazil. Other than that, I can~t think of any other big news.
Looks like universal was fun. I~m green with jealous rage. You know, the yoozh.
And ifyou can get peggys email for me, thatd be great.
Love,
Sister Marshall
