ALOHA!
So we~re now in week 2 of being here in the Ipiranga Ward, and FINALLY I think that me and my companion are figuring out the area. This week has been awesome! Me and my companion are working really hard to do the things that president is asking us to do, and weve been seeing the blessings.
This week, we had a zone meeting. It was so good. President was there and he talked about how we need to be marking dates for baptism on the first visit, or on the street, or things like that. I was like.... wait. Its a pretty daring task, for me at least, but I know that as a president, he knows what is best for this area, this mission, and also we~ve been literally talking with EVERYONE. Also, were trying our best every day to become better missionaries, in teaching, in the language, with everything, because we~re trying to be more dedicated and sanctified. Because of this, we~re seeing a lot more miracles, and helping a lot more people, and also we~re seeing a lot more opposition.
I~ll be honest, I could probably write a book about wierd things that happen when we~re teaching about Joseph Smith and the First Vision. Seriously though, we~re sharing the world´s greatest message in the world, so Satans doing everything he can to disrupt it. Its like we say, ´´there was a young boy named joseph smith`` and babies start crying, a car drives by blasting horrible horrible music, some kid vomits, a dog bites someone, a family walks in, they ask if we need water, someone kicks a soccer ball through the window... You name it, it~s probably happened. But the good thing is that the people who are prepared to hear this message will hear it. The scriptures talk about how the sheep hear His voice. Despite the crazy things that happen, there are still a lot of people prepared, and know that what we are saying is true. And it~s a miracle as to how many people know it. This week, we~ve taught the restoration I think... umpteen billion times, and there was such a strong power in those lessons. I know that it wasn~t me talking most of the time, it was the spirit. We~ve found several families this week, and we~re working with them and preparing them for baptism. It~s been amazing.
This week I sat with Kadri during Sacrament Meeting and translated church for her. I was suprised at how much I understood when I was actually paying close attention! But it~s true. The language isnt as big of a tripping stone any more. Im communicating just dandy with everyone here. Its funny because I don~t think I really have a problem talking any more, its the understanding part that trips me up sometimes, but I don~t let that get me down! I remember that I~ve been in Brazil for 5 months, and remember, oh my gosh. 5 months is not a long time to be learning a language, and I can hold conversations with people. It~s incredible how the Lord helps us as missionaries in this work.
Oh, I have groundbreaking news for you. It~s not groundbreaking, but its news. I received a call for my date to return home. Get prepped because my date is DECEMBER 8TH. WOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!! So you~ll see me December 9th or December 10th, I don~t know how long it will be with the whole plane ride thing. But I~ll keep you posted with more deets to come.
but love you guys! have a great week!
