Querido Irmãos e Irmãs,
Oh my gosh. So last week, I told you that nothing much was happening and that I~m loving my area. I will never write that again, because you know when not much is happening and you love your area
TRANSFERENCIAS
So now, I am no longer in Ipiranga. And I was transferred very, VERY far. So far, in fact, that I can see NOT JUST ONE, BUT BOTH OF MY AREAS from my window. I was transferred to Fama. I~m opening an area AGAIN with my new comp, Sister De Lima. She is this gorgeous brasileira from São Paulo. Oh my gosh, she~s so leggggit and is seriously, is like a born leader, which makes my job a heck of a lot easier. WoOOOOOo!!!! Our ward is very small. We went to church on Sunday, and I~m pretty sure the frequency of members is less than 50. We~ll be working hard to find people to teach because we got our area book, and it literally had NOTHING. So we~ve been knocking doors, talking to peoplke on the street, meeting members, etc. It~s rough. But something cool happened on Sunday.
We had no one to bring to church because we had been in the ward like.... 1 day. And so we walked to church and it was 9 in the morning, we were like... what the? Doesn~t it start at 9? So we figured everyone was just late. Brasil time is the same as Hawaii time, if you know what i~m sayin. So we figured, hey... lets just stand in the front and welcome people to church!
So we~re standing there and there~s this lady and she passees by, and is like... I want to go to your church. Can I? We were like... UHHHHHH YEAH! She was super awesome too. She was taking notes in every class and sacrament meeting. I~m STOKED and she loved it, so we~ll teach her this week, and all will be dandy.
In other news... the baptism this week of A____ was soooo gooooooood! I got permission to go back to see her baptism!! I was so happy for her, and I know that this is going to help her family so much. Her son, L_____, will be getting baptised next week. How awesome is that. I~m definitely going to miss them. i~m going to miss that area so much!!! (Shout out to Kadri! I know you~re reading this. Love you!). There~s tons of people that I miss so much already, and I was only there for a transfer.
I know that all of you guys are wondering about World Cup. We stay inside during the games and after, so I don~t know too much about it, but I~ll paint you a figurative picture of what its like from my house. People are straight up nuts on the streets. Everyone is blowing horns, completely wasted, and screaming before the game. The game starts and the only thing you can here is televisions, a lot of screaming from the telivision. And then Brasil scores. The entire neighborhood is screaming, and then fireworks start going off like... 3 seconds later. TONS OF FIREWORKS, and like I said, you can see everything from my house, so Goiania is lit up with fireworks and everyone is screaming for a solid 3 minutes. And THAT is World Cup in these parts.
Other news. I want to light someone on fire, I~m so mad. You are right, I~m coming home November 13th. I was thinking about not telling you guys that I was coming home, and being like SUPRISE. But looks like you guys already know. When I got transferred the Exec. Secretary was like... hey... so.... we bought your ticket to go home November 13th... sorry bout it. But its okay, I had a feeling that November was the time that I was supposed to go home, and I just really wanted to stay. I~m not complaining anymore, I~ve come to accept the will of the Lord. So it~s true! I~ll see you guys November 14th!!! I~m also very excited to see everyone, I can~t believe that it~s already been over a year that I~ve been serving. I feel like yesterday I was in the MTC! Like...what? Whoever said that a mission was a long time clearly never served a mission because it seriously feels like I blinked and I~m getting emails with a plan to go home. Doesn~t make sense at all.
But love you guys! I~m learning a lot and loving a lot.
Happy Day,
Sister Marshall
