Well, not exactly. This week has been filled with a lot of random, ´´thats never happened before´´s.
First of all, it was miserably hot. Miserably miserably miserably hot and DRY. Me and Sister De Lima walked a ton this week, just trying to keep up with the people that we~re teaching. But Thursday night, a miracle occured.
We walked home after a long day, we planned, and I looked out the window. It started raining. Seriously, the first time I~ve seen rain in 4 months. It rained and rained and rained, I just sat there with my head outside the window screaming, ´´it~s a miracle!!!!´´ And it generally doesn~t rain here this time of the year. And it stayed raining. For the last four days it~s been raining on and off, and will continue for most of the week. And.... It~s so cold! You would think that the people have never felt cold before because people are leaving the house the way people in Detroit leave the house in December. Seriously, its like everyone is wearing parkas and 4 pairs of socks with sandals. Everyone is like... ´´in all my life... i~ve lived here for 60 years and never in my life saw rain in july. one time, i heard of a time when it rained a little bit in August, but NEVER rain in July. My friends, I will quote the wise words of a well known musician... Justin Bieber...
Never Say Never.
I~m stoked. I~ll go home and sleep :)
The second ´´thats never happened before´´ was the other day at the baptism of the elders in our area. A 17 year old got baptized and there was literally only him and us and his recent convert uncle at the baptism. I welcomed him into the Young Mens Organization. I was like.... Welcome to the Young Mens Oranization.... I~ve never been a young man, but its a great organization...
...Here in our ward, we do a lot of everything. There are a lot of members (on record), but about 400 of them don~t go to church. So, about 30-50 people go to church on Sunday, so we do a lot. This week, I taught Gospel Principles, Sister De Lima taught Young Womens, and the Elders both gave talks this last week.
So last week, I told you about a really cool family that we found. We went to teach them that week, but the mom was leaving, and so we talked to her, and she was like... come back tomorrow, i~ll have a snack prepared and we~ll have a lesson. Bom. So we go back the next day, knock the door, the daughter comes out. ´´moms not here´´ she says. thats okay, we call her. ´´sorry, i~m at the house of one of my really good friends and i wont be home until 9.´´ okay, our appointment fell through. a friend walks by and is like... is m___ there? and were like... no she~s at a friends house. and so the friend is like.. okay, i~ll call her. so the friend calls her but doesn~t have credit on her phone. so then my companion is like... here, you can use our phone. so she uses our phone and it~s on speaker phone. the friend is like... ´´hey, where are you?´´ and m____ says, ´´i~m at home! come on in!!!!´´ I couldn~t believe it!! But its okay, unfortunately that happens a lot.
But we~re working hard. We had a baptism this week! Woooo! The baptism of Luiz! Luiz is legit. He~s almost blind and almost deaf, but he~s awesome! He was elect. Seriously. And then after the baptism, they had a barbeque! Wooooooooo!! We love barbeques!!
Thats about all I can think of. Be sure to take lots of pictures in Hawaii. I~m green with jealous rage.
Love ya!
