Tomorrow is transfers!! And I'm so happy that I have at least six more weeks in the Belle Isle District. So this is how it works with regards to visas. If we get our visa during the transfer, then we stay until the end of the transfer. If I got my visa tomorrow, I would wait until the end of the transfer. But chances are I won't get my visa for a while longer so I'm absorbing as much as I can while I am here. Detroit is the best.
Like I said last monday, we went to the zoo. It was the best and then some! We had new missionary orientation on tuesday, and then me and my comp were sick thursday up until today, but we've been pushing hard. Luckily we both got sick at the same time. Miracle. But the funny thing is that this week we hit standards, we had a temple trip, a 9 hour meeting, and many naps, and we did work!So after I was done emailing you,
Sister Decker and I had to arrange FHE with our young single adults. We were only able to get Brittany Branch and her sister to go and it was at her house in the MIDDLE of Detroit. Everyone needs a Brittany Branch. Golden, amazing, says she wants to go on a mission and she has been a member for less than a month, and she is already a better missionary than me hahah!!!! So we go to her house, and we didn't really have anything to teach, so we grab a Ensign, and I wanted to read something by Elder Uchtdorf, but I felt prompted to read something by Sister Dalton instead, which was weird because I had never read it before. But we decide each to read one page. I freaked out because right when sarah read, it talked about chastity and virtue and all that fun stuff, and Sarah is a single mom with one child! But when we finished reading, she told us all about how this talk was directed to her, and that she made all the wrong choices in life and needs to change. She is excited to be baptized. We're excited too.
You're going to be so stoked. I made lumpia. But I can't find oyster sauce anywhere. So I just kind of winged it. The Elders loved it. They even ate the insides of the stuff I couldn't fit in the wraps.
We went to the temple this week and did baptisms for the dead with some recent converts. It was really awesome because Brother G, Ss baby daddy, came with us and he had the most spiritual experience. He didn't know he was being baptized for his dad and grandfather, and when he heard their names, he was so excited and he wants to baptize his entire family. He also asked if his dad's and grandaddy's spirits were in the temple. He is so cool!!!!!! And he just loves mormons. He is actually how S knows about the gospel.
We had a stake bbq, and T and his family actually came!!!! And another guy, J came. J is a new investigator. He's super cool. We started O on the 7 Day quit smoking program, and he is back on date for August 31st. We're trying to get S back on date, but quitting is a struggle. M is on date for the 17th. We haven't told him that he needs to quit smoking weed yet, but I'm stoked.
Relief Society yesterday was really funny. One of my favorite ladies, Sister S, gave the lesson, and somehow we ended up talking about slavery for a while. It was on the branch's mind or something because it came up in class earlier too. But her lesson was really good. She got a few amens and hallelujas though. It was so funny.
We did more gardening at R's house this week. We planted tomatoes, and she made us some food. I love R. Once we get her and R married, and R baptized, the world will be a better place.
We had dinner with the Owen's last night. They did burritos. I felt like I was at home again haha! Except I was the missionary. We lit all of Elder Keiths clothes on fire because he's going home tomorrow. Oh, traditions of missionaries! We also roasted marshmellos. YUM.
O wrote another rap. You might be able to hear it on Youtube. It's called:
O V Many Men Freestyle. It's kind of funny. He talks about the Book of Mormon in it. Kind of funny. His raps are how we know that he's understanding what we're teaching him.
